Jolly Drovers Maze
Consett-Sunderland Cycle Path, Co. Durham and Tyne & Wear
earth , cycle path
View of the cycle path skirting the centre of the maze. Photographed in 2014. In the ten minutes this photography took to complete on a weekday in April, 4 separate groups of cyclists went past. Designed to slow down cyclists before they reach a major road junction and also to entice them to the centre of the maze. Goldsworthy designed the concept, the JCB driver determined the final dimensions and design details. One of the landmark sculptures on the Sustrans Trail which utilises the disused Consett-Sunderland Railway line.
