Description: 
Exterior detail: section of one of the four columns of the Exhibition Road facade. Originally built as the School of Naval Architecture. The terracotta columns are the same as those for the V&A Lecture Theatre Front designed by Sheffield's Godfrey Sykes. The building has had several uses and names before becoming part of the V&A Museum (created 1899). H.Y.D. SCOTT also worked on the Albert Hall. The same designs were used again for Sykes' Memorial Column sited in Weston Park, Sheffield < http://shimmer.shu.ac.uk/luna/servlet/s/q10z15 > .
