Detail. Photographer's statement: "'Straight Jacket' is a constructed Self-Portrait that questions the media issues of homophobia and sexuality. With homophobia being one of the most recognised forms of discrimination I have developed an installation piece that emphasizes the constraints and emotional effects homophobic slurs have upon me. This piece of art removes all dignity and openly portrays my female form to reflect that beneath the surface these words leave a lasting effect. This work encourages the viewer to read the words and question the damaging effect these have on the younger generation who are struggling with their sexuality."
