Description:
Detail. Photographer's statement: "A memory inescapably becomes blurred over time, it is powerfully subjective, based on our own personal beliefs rather than fact. The Silent pools examines the fleeting nature and ephemeral quality of our childhood memories. Specifically focusing on folktale and fairytale from my own home town, illustrating an innocent and enchanting viewpoint of landscape, referring back to childhood when everything seemed new and miraculous. Using lightweight fabric as a canvas to highlight the fragility and transient nature of our precious memories, the layered placement of the images suggest a fragmented narrative, signifying the impermanent character of memory. The suspended hanging and translucent nature of the fabric allows the work to sway and flow slightly with the motions of the audience, echoing a subtle breeze or ripple portrayed in the imagery itself."
