Description:
Exterior detail: top section of facade with Coat of Arms. The building was trasferred [1988] to new premises on Carver Street and then again [2009] to a purpose-built building on Arundel Gate. This building has been converted to a pub. Description: Coat of Arms of the City of Sheffield. The figure of Vulcan is on the right holding pincers, with an anvil behind him and Thor is on the left with a long handled hammer (looking more like an axe). The arms are enclosed on either side by the axe and bundle of rods of a Roman lictor. The date appears at the upper corners above a lion and a gryphon's head. Two Sum motifs appear at first floor level to the left and right of the main facade. Commission: Sheffield City Council.
