Description:

Interior detail: looking through bars into Nelson Mandela's cell. The island has served as a prison from the 17th century. Nelson Mandela and many other political prisoners were imprisoned here. After the end of the Apartheid Republic (1994) , in 1997 the island became a World Heritage Site and a museum. Nelson Mandela's cell is one of the attractions.
