Description:
|
Exterior view: central monument in the cemetery. The national military cemetery on the outskirts of Verdun. Located adjacent to the town's civic cemetery. Contains the graves of 4,884 men of various denominations. Also a memorial to victims of Nazi atrocities. The central monument is surrounded by seven graves of unidentified soldiers selected from battlefields throughout France. An eighth body selected at the same time now lies in the tomb of the unknown warrior in Paris.
