Exterior view: street facade. Location: on a triangular site bordered by Drury Lane, Wild Street & Kemble Street. In 1862 an American banker, George PEABODY (1795-1869) started a fund to provide housing in London for the city's poor. The fund became The Peabody Trust and still exists today housing over 50,000 people in London. A number of different estates were built within London for Peabody by the architect, H.A. DARBYSHIRE.
