Description:
Interior view: View looking across Chancel into side-chapels in the Apse. Building dates between 1096 and 1215. The apse and choir were badly damaged by fire in 1165 and were replaced, in a Gothic style, between 1185 and 1215. The crosses on the wall were carried during the Crusade of Peace (1946) a pilgrimage of reconciliation by French and German churches at the end of WW2. Links with German churches persist to this day and the crosses are also a tourist attraction. The church, itself, sits at the top of a hillside village which is a hugely popular tourist destination.
