Description:
Exterior view: a view from below the motorway with the rest of the street behind. A small De Stijl-inspired house built at the end of a row of ordinary terraced houses in the suburbs of Utrecht with a motorway, built in the 1960's, beyond it. Commissioned by Truus Schröder-Schräder for herself and her three children. She lived in the house until her death in 1985. Designed by her and Rietveld the upper, living level comprises of a bathroom, toilet and a large open area with sliding partitions that allow it to be temporarily subdivided. Kitchen and three bed/sit rooms downstairs. Since her death the house is now a museum. (The house was still occupied at the time of this photograph)
