Description:
Interior view: bannisters, staircase and balustrade. Description: Twisted, hammered and stretched metal rods of varying length and breadth. Windows on Norfolk Street entrance to Ruskin Gallery. Interior staircase railing and balustrade also by Lund. Commission: Sheffield City Council, grant-aided by the Craft Council. Comment: The individual window rods are an imaginative solution to the security requirements for the gallery. They also serve to attract attention to the nature of the building. While the other pieces will be transferred to the new Millennium Galleries, Lund has insisted that his work is site -specific and that it would not be appropriate for it to be relocated. Update: The Ruskin Gallery has been transferred to the V & A Millennium Galleries next to the Winter gardens. Some of Lund's window grilles have been relocated and installed amongst plants in the Winter Gardens.
