Location: Entrance gates/pillars, at the lower entrance to Weston Park from Western Bank.

Description: Four terracotta pillars were made by Hugh Gamble, of the Sheffield School of Art, and composed from models executed by Godfrey Sykes at South Kensington. They are constructed in sections, each one of which bears small-scale figures and other decorative motifs. The gates were designed by E.M. Gibbs.

Commission: Sheffield Town Council

Comment: The central cast iron gates were stolen in 1994. They were replaced as part of the restoration and refurbishment of the Park during 2006-2008.
SYKES was a sculptor, artist and designer who studied and worked in Sheffield, and died in London.
