Location: Surrey Street. Image looking into Hibbert's Art Shop window. (The business is now closed) When the painting was first displayed in Paris in 1878 it was shown in a shop/gallery window as it was refused at exhibition. The resulting crowds looking in at the painting blocked the street. In Sheffield 121 years later there was only one onlooker.
