The land had been donated by a Mrs Godfrey Walker of Scarborough and she unveiled the lamp and fountain. £150 was raised by public subscription. The cost of the lamp and fountain was £30 plus the installation costs. The remaining monies were spent on a Coronation tea for the village children and old people.
