The land had been donated by a Mrs Godfrey Walker of Scarborough and she unveiled the lamp and fountain. £150 was raised by public subscription. The cost of the lamp and fountain was £30 plus the installation costs. The remaining monies were spent on a Coronation tea for the village children and old people. [1] Comment: It is not known whether the initiative for this fountain was public or private References: [1] J. & T. Greathead, Photographs of Old Conisbrough, 1990. p. 13
