A metal (copper?) plate around the base of one pole of the right hand gateway gives details of the commission and reads: "NOVEMBER 1998 / MADE BY ROSS GILBERTSON AND MANDY BURTON / WITH HELP FROM THE ARTSCAPE GROUP AT / CROOKESMOOR TRAINING CENTRE / PART OF THE "PAVING THE WAY" PROJECT / SUPPORTED BY : THE SHEFFIELD SRB PARTNERSHIP / THE EUROPEAN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND / B.T. COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMME / AND DESTINATION SHEFFIELD WITH A SPECIAL THANKS TO BENOXES GROUNDWORKS AND THE B.T. POLING TEAM" Commission: "Paving The Way" Project, with financial and other support as detailed above. Comment: The name of this park is a nickname given by local children to the park during the 1960's. The Ponderosa was the name of the ranch on the popular TV series 'Bonanza'.
