Description:
View of work by WRAY seen in the foreground (with 'Footprints' by KENT in the background). Photographed in 2001. Location: Manor Recreation Ground, alongside a cycle path (the Trans Pennine Trail). This is located next to the Parkway near the Prince of Wales Road exit. Description: Two concrete 'feet' with their surfaces decorated with colourful mosaic patterns. Commission: National Cycle Network. Working with children from neighboroughing Pipworth Junior and St Oswald's RC Primary Schools. [1] Comment: The piece has been badly damaged; first one foot had large areas of tiles removed from it, and then the other suffered the same fate. Each foot was made by children from a different school and the artist suspects that the selective vandalism may have been carried out by children partisan to one or other school. [2] Two other neighboroughing pieces were installed at the same time by artists Simon Kent and Coralie Turpin, both also working with local schoolchildren. References: [1] Article in The Star - July 20th 2000 [2] Conversation with the artist: April 2001
